What makes Switzerland pretty unique is its diversity of languages. German, French, Italian and Romansh are the four national languages, shared by the 8.6 million inhabitants of the country.
Here is a visualization I made depicting the distribution of the spoken languages. The 26 cantons (administrative units) are sorted by their official language, then by alphabetical order, to make this circular axis.
Of course, national languages are not the only ones spoken in Switzerland. English, Portuguese, Spanish, Serbian, Croatian and Albanian are among the other most widely spoken languages (source: Swiss federal authorities).
Diversity is highly valuable!
